A New Word for the English Language
I would like to propose what I believe is a new word for the English language. That word is MAVINIZED; as in to be mavinized. Based on the original noun, maven, mavenized describes the effects of disapproval of a maven upon those who violate the maven's sense of propriety or social mores. This disapproval may or may not be based in reality as maven's tend to define reality in their own terms. The insidious nature of a maven is that they do not privately hold their views of others actions, but see it as a responsiblilty to alert their social networks of their personal views and decisions about the propriety of others. Mavin's are at their most destructive when dealing with other mavens or those in positions of social popularity. I'm suspicious that E.A. Poe actually meant maven instead of raven as the pronouncement "nevermore" is the intended outcome of being mavenized.

Georgia politics
I'm so sick of Georgia politics and politicians. Not only do we have two US senators that are members of the party of NO but a govenor as well. This is the govenor that stood on the steps on the capitol and prayed for rain during a drought. And... the group of Republics in the House of Representatives are, simply put, backwards. Now, as a result of the recent local elections, the city of East Point is having to have a runoff election for Mayor because our own nutcase, Ernistine Pittman won the most votes. It makes me wonder why I pay taxes in a city and state that don't represent me at all. I have no real reason to stay here. Most of my friends are casual or alienated and the weather, except for about 4 weeks a year is either too hot or too cold. Where would I go? I'm open for suggestions.

I watched the President's speech last night and was amazed at how emotional he became during its delivery. It's nice to see him break out of his logical, left-brained self and engage his emotional side. I thought his delivery was wonderful and the content of his speech was laid out in clear and unequivical terms. Anyone with an open mind could not avoid being impressed. It was also evident that the Republicans are not interested in getting anything done. They did every thing except sit on their hands. What a bunch of non-thinkers.
It seems like it's going to be the disenfranchised that are going to have to take these guys out of office. When will the pain and suffering overcome the racism that keeps these clowns in office. It was abundantly clear during the President's speech that the Republicans are happy with the status quo. I'd like to know how much insurance stock these people have in their portfolios. If I ever hear another one of them raise the "compassionate conservative" banner I may follow their example and scream, "You lie!". Obviously they don't really have much Christian charity and I wonder how they are going to justify their lock step, uncaring, and avaricious behavior to the God they seem to believe is their personal political weapon. Hope they like barbecue.
